We are delighted to present Pungkai's latest large work, Colour My Country.
This piece continues his exploration of more abstract ways to express his observations of contemporary Australian life. Of this painting he says:
“Time and space dictates quality of human expansion versus the sustainability of human kind in its environment. We have nowhere to go. Time and space diminishes our long term sustainable existence on one planet.”
These issues are becoming increasingly pressing as populations grow, town boundaries expand to accommodate new buildings, and delicate ecosystems are compromised or destroyed. This is, of course, the converse to the traditional Indigenous way of treading lightly on the land.
