Marshall Arts in association with Tjarlirli Art are pleased to present this group exhibition profiling a select number of the centre’s established and emerging artists.

The confidence and surety that comes from having grown up in a traditional life is apparent in the paintings by Nyarapayi Giles, Katjarra Butler, Annie Farmer, Esther Giles and Tjawina Porter. The vast landscapes that they bring to life on their canvases have passed many times before their eyes and under their feet. The songs of their stories have been performed countless times and can be heard in the studio as they work. They are completely at one with their country; they are masters of their place.

The younger generation of emerging artists like Bob Gibson and Theresa Butler are informed by the wisdom of their elders, but they are forging their own visual styles that reflect lives unfolding between two worlds. Their works are charged with a youthful energy that will carry the old stories and people through to new frontiers.
